In
the first game of the day, No. 1 Houston destroyed No. 2 Tennessee, holding
Tennessee to a record Elite-8 low 15 points in the first half, eventually
comfortably beating the Vols, 69-50.
Then
No. 1 Auburn held No. 2 Michigan State in check most of the game until a
scare midway through the second half where Auburn's player-of-the-year
candidate Johni Broome went down with two injuries on the same play, a rolled
left ankle and worse, a hyper-extended right elbow. He
uttered to his bench on his way to locker room, "I'm done."
He
wasn't.
Bromme
came back into the game several minutes later, essentially not using his
right arm at all, grabbed a couple of rebounds then hit a 3.
He
shoots left-handed.
Bromme
has until Saturday to get right. Auburn plays fellow
No. 1 and fellow SEC-member Florida in the Final 4.
