How can you not like the Drake

Who's the Drake?

Not the biggest upset of Day 1 that goes to #12 McNeese St over #5 Clemson but #11 Drake beating #6 Missouri was pretty big.

Not only did one of the 14 beloved SEC teams lose to a team form the MVC (you probably do not even know what MVC stands for it stands for Missouri Valley Conference), but it lost to essentially a Division II team.

The Drake Bulldogs are not unfamiliar with the Dance they have appeared in four of the last five tournaments. But after last year's run, almost the entire team and head coach bolted for greener pastures (and by greener, I mean richer). Former head coach Darian DeVries left for West Virginia. And after one season there said, "This place sucks!", and then headed to Indiana.

With no coach and almost no players, the program had to start over.

Drake chose a different route to rebuild its program by hiring four-time DII national champion coach Ben McCollum from Northwest Missouri State. And if worked in DII, why not try it in DI. McCollum brought four of his players from Northwest Missouri State to join his Drake team. And they have all started every game this season and finished with a 31-3 record. And they just beat #6 Missouri in the First Round.

So the almighty-powerful SEC lost to a DII team.

If you are older than 45 years old, you probably know what all the references by the national media to "I love the Drake" "I hate the Drake" mean.

If you are younger than that, you probably think it refers to the Kendrick Lamar / Drake feud.

It does not.

This is the Drake

[He] not like us.

And for those younger than 45: too bad for you. The 90s were great
